Bath re-enamelling in Dorchester, done in place

When a bath is structurally fine but worn out on the surface, resurfacing is normally the best value. There is no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We are frequently asked to fix wear marks under the taps and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, in cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Landlord and trade work in Dorchester

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Dorchester as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it generally costs far less than a refit.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Steel that has corroded right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

FAQs for Dorchester

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Does the bath have to be removed?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why book with us

  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Everything repaired in place
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes the best part of a day. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Ask for a price

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Dorchester?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
