About bath repair in DY13

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We work on whirlpool & spa baths, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding, and people most frequently call us about a cracked acrylic bath and a chipped rim or side.

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

What it costs in DY13

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to DY13. The price depends on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will handle the rest.

If you manage property in DY13, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it.
