How bath repair works in EH8
We’ve repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. All of it is repaired where the bath stands with a one-year guarantee. Typical jobs include a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and a chip where the taps sit, on cast iron enamel, acrylic and pressed steel enamel.
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.
Repairing versus replacing
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is.
Comparing quotes
- Whether the colour is mixed to match
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- How soon you can use it again
- Whether the price covers travel
What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. This is what makes a difference:
- Doing more than one item at once
- The material
- The colour and finish to match
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Send photos for a quote
You can take the photos on your phone. Ensure they show:
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Something in shot to show the size
- What it’s made of, if you know
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
EH8: your questions answered
Do you repair coloured baths?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.
What happens next?
We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
How long does the repair take to cure?
Most baths can be used the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.
What do you need from me?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
