Bath repair for Old Town homes

Old Town questions

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Bath repair in Old Town, done in place

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. Common call-outs are for a hole punched through by something heavy and a chipped rim or side, in whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and cast iron enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a few hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, we check the damage against your pictures and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Related advice

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Old Town. The price comes down to:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • The material and finish
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Email us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your EH1 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.

Do you need bath repair in Old Town?

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

The things clients typically mention when they call are:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How to look after the finish
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether they match the colour on site
