Bath repair for Holyrood homes

Should you replace it?

People often assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Bath repair in Holyrood without replacing anything

You don’t need a new bath because of a chip. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day. We regularly repair acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel, and people most often call us about a hole punched through by something heavy and chips under the taps.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Holyrood use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Your questions about bath repair in Holyrood

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Is a bath repair permanent?

Done properly, a repair lasts for years, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Do you work in Holyrood?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Holyrood. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed price, plus dates. There is no obligation to book.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Have new chips seen to early

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Signs you need bath repair in Holyrood

Rust normally starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Common reasons people in Holyrood contact us include:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • A kit repair that didn’t last

What to look for in a quote

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How to look after the finish
  • How long it needs to cure
  • If travel is included in the price

Our hiring checklist

How the visit works

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
