How bath repair works in LS6
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. We regularly repair roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel, and the jobs we see most are holes from dropped items and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the day after.
Cost
Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for LS6. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
Keeping it looking good
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
Repairing versus replacing
Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: taking out the old one, plumbing, tiling, a panel and redecorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price.
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
- How the room is protected while they work
- If travel is included in the price
- A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
What we’re called out for in LS6
Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Damage beneath the taps
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- Snagging damage from a refit
- A kit repair that didn’t last
Questions from LS6
Which areas do you work in?
We cover the whole UK, including LS6 and the rest of Leeds. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.
What happens once I’ve sent pictures?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Are there extra charges for LS6?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Normally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.
Is there any odour?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.
