Bath repair across N7: what to expect

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We regularly repair acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are rust by the waste and overflow and scratches you can feel with a fingernail.

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, usually the next day.

Prices in N7

What’s near Holloway

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to The Coronet pub, Vaughan Williams Memorial Library and St Joseph and St Padarn's Church and the streets around them. You will also find Grafton Primary School (less than half a mile north-west), Whittington Park (0.6 miles north-west), Beacon High (0.6 miles south-west) and Musical Theatre Academy (0.8 miles south-east). The nearest railway station is Drayton Park station, roughly 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Metropolitan Borough of Islington (1.2 miles south-east) and Arsenal Football Club Museum (within half a mile east). Not far away are St. James's Park Lake and Dartmouth Park Hill.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Common problems we fix in N7

A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until the acrylic gives way.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips under the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Holes from dropped items

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling

Your questions about bath repair in N7

Is a bath repair permanent?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Regularly. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Frequently, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

Will the repair show?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.
