Our bath repair service in PL2
A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. Our technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We are often asked to fix cracks in an acrylic bath and chips on the rim or sides, in pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes two to three hours for most chips. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- Once it has cured, usually by the following day, the bath is ready to use.
What you’ll pay
Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Why customers in PL2 choose us
- Work done at your home or business
- Typically one visit, start to finish
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
What’s near North Prospect
We visit homes around Devonport High School for Girls, Ford Primary School and Central Park and the streets around them. Nearby too are The Falcon Hotel (within half a mile south-west), UTC Plymouth (1 mile south-west), North Prospect Library (less than half a mile north-west) and St James the Less (under half a mile north). The nearest railway station is Keyham station, about 0.7 miles west of the centre. A little further out are Plymouth General Hospital (1.4 miles south-west) and Plymouth Castle (2.2 miles south-east).
For landlords and businesses
If you manage property in PL2, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Why repair rather than replace?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
What your quote should include
- What happens if they find more damage
- Whether they match the colour on site
- Aftercare advice
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Give the bath a quick rinse after use
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Each time it flexes, the crack grows, and it can start to leak underneath.
Signs you need bath repair
Most bath damage comes from something dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
Keep an eye out for these signs:
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- A chip where the taps sit
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
Questions from PL2
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.
What happens after I send pictures?
You get a fixed quote and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.
