Bath repair across PO33: what to expect

Most bath damage, from chips and cracks to rust spots and holes, is repaired in place. Nothing is unplumbed, your tiles stay as they are, and the repaired area is colour matched so it blends in. Common call-outs are for scratches you can feel with a fingernail and cracks in an acrylic bath, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours for most jobs. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Prices in PO33

Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Around Ryde

Our clients here include homes close to Dover Park Primary School, Ryde School with Upper Chine and The Falcon pub. Also close by are Ryde Academy (0.5 miles west) and All Saints' Church (under half a mile north-west). There’s a railway station in Ryde itself: Ryde St Johns Road station. Further afield, we also cover the area around Gosport War Memorial Hospital (4.8 miles north) and Sandown Castle (4.7 miles south). Not far away are Brading Down and Alan Hersey Nature Reserve.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Have new chips seen to early

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Avoid standing in a cracked acrylic bath until it’s fixed. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

Honest limits

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Why repair rather than replace?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.

What your quote should include

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the colour is matched

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your PO33 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

FAQs for PO33

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send photos.

Do you cover PO33?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to PO33 and the rest of Isle of Wight. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
