Bath repair across PO34: what to expect
It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Typical jobs include a chipped rim or side and damage done while the bathroom was being fitted, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
- The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

For landlords and businesses
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in PO34 as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Should you replace it?
For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes.
Questions to ask before booking
- Aftercare advice
- What prep work is covered
- How changes to the job are handled
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
How to care for the repair
To keep it looking its best:
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
A repaired bath needs no special treatment, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
Common problems we fix in PO34
The usual cause is something heavy dropped into the bath, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
- Chips on the rim or sides
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- A hole punched through by something heavy
PO34 questions
Will there be a smell?
Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.
Do you cover the entire of Isle of Wight?
All of Isle of Wight, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
Do I have to be there?
We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
