How bath repair works in PO9
Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and people most often call us about rusty patches near the plughole and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to two to three hours for most chips.
- We protect the bath and the floor around it.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- We match both the colour and the shine.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
Why book with us
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Normally one visit, start to finish
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Repairs by material
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Aftercare tips
After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
- Do not leave a fresh chip for long
Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.
A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
What bath repair costs
Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Doing more than one item at once
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
Quotes from your photos
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- Natural light rather than flash
- One picture of the entire bath
- Details of any past repairs
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. A repair deals only with the damage in a single visit.
Comparing quotes
- Whether they match the colour on site
- How long it needs to cure
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What aftercare is recommended
How the damage happens
A cracked acrylic bath typically wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move.
People normally call us when they notice one of these:
- Rust spots around the plughole
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Cracks in an acrylic bath
- Holes from dropped items
PO9 questions

Can you quote from pictures?
Generally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Does someone need to be in?

Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.
When can I have a bath again?
Usually within a day, depending on the repair.
