Our bath repair service in TA20
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Typical jobs include rusty patches near the plughole and impact holes in acrylic, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.
We agree an arrival time beforehand. Once we’re there, the work takes a few hours for most jobs. The room is left tidy and you will know when it can be used.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
What you will pay
Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Why book with us
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- Same prices wherever you are
- Most jobs done in one visit
- We come to you, anywhere in the UK
Ask for a price
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
Near you in Chard
Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to Holyrood Academy, Manor Court Community Primary School and The Happy Return Public House, among other places. Well-known places in the area include Chard Plumbing Museum (under half a mile west) and Chard Community Hospital (under half a mile east).
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Common problems we fix in TA20
Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and building work is a common culprit. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath is not properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Holes from dropped items
- Rust spots around the plughole
- An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
- Chips on the rim or sides
Looking after it afterwards
To keep it looking its best for years:
- A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it deals only with the damage in a single visit.
Questions to ask before booking
- How soon you can use it again
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
- What prep work is covered
- How your room will be protected
Can I fix it myself?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Common questions in TA20
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.
Will the repair show?
We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what to expect.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.
