Bath repair across WA14: what to expect
Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Our repair technicians work on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic, and common reasons people get in touch are chips caused by builders and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.
On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Pricing in WA14
Our bath repair starts from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.
What you get with us
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Same prices wherever you are
- Generally one visit, start to finish
- Work done at your home or business

Locally, our jobs take us to homes close to St George's Church, Woodheys Park and Wellington School and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include Old Packet House (less than half a mile north-west), North Cestrian School (0.7 miles south-west) and Navigation Primary School (under half a mile west). Altrincham has its own railway station: Navigation Road station. Well-known places in the area include Ullerwood Castle (3.6 miles south-east) and Municipal Borough of Altrincham (0.6 miles south-west). For a walk, there’s Unicorn Grocery and Black Moss Covert Nature Reserve.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:
- The colour and finish to match
- The type of damage
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Quotes from your photos
You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:
- Any details about the material
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Details of any past repairs
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
How to look after the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Rinse it down after each bath
There is nothing special to do after a repair. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.
Signs you need bath repair
Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.
Send us a photo if you notice any of these:
- Holes from dropped items
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
- A chip where the taps sit
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.
What a repair cannot fix
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
Common questions in WA14
Do you cover the whole of Trafford?
We work UK-wide, so WA14 is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
Is a bath repair permanent?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps.
Can you match an avocado or pink bath?
Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including older coloured suites.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?
Usually, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
Do I have to be there?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.
