Choosing a repair company

Shower tray repair in Bullwood without replacing anything

Stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays can all be repaired, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. Nothing is taken out, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. We’re often asked to fix edge chips from dropped bottles and chips or cracks by the plughole, across enamelled steel, stone resin and cast iron.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface.

  1. We check the tray is firmly supported and find the cause of any crack.
  2. The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Rinse the tray after each shower

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water can get through to the floor and walls, and the damage below isn’t visible.

Questions from Bullwood

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Typically, as long as it doesn’t flex. The crack is reinforced, filled and refinished.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Argyll and Bute and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so good support matters. We repair cracks and scratches.

Repairing versus replacing in Bullwood

A new shower tray normally means removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and tiling again. Repairing or resurfacing the tray keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
