Shower tray repair for Rhu homes

How we handle shower tray repair in Rhu

You do not always need a new tray. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. Our repair technicians work on ceramic, enamelled steel and stone resin, and people most frequently call us about chipped corners or rims and cracks running from the waste.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Rhu questions

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Do you cover Rhu?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Rhu and the rest of Argyll and Bute. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, because water may be getting underneath.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time on the day.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can you resurface a whole tray?

Yes. We can resurface the entire tray for a fresh finish.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Leaking waste fittings

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Rhu

  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron
  • Ceramic

Work for landlords and builders

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Rhu as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

For anyone letting property in or around Rhu, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

What affects the price in Rhu

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A photo taken from further back

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, with your G84 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Old sealant is removed if it’s in the way.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

10 questions to ask before booking

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
  • Don’t ignore a tray that flexes
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray

Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.

Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

Repairs by material

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are popular because they’re rigid and low-profile. They need a flat, solid base, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
