Shower tray repair for Cegidfa homes

Repairs by material

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

How we handle shower tray repair in Cegidfa

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. The tray stays in place, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. Common call-outs are for edge chips from dropped bottles and cracks running from the waste, across ceramic, stone resin and cast iron.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Wait the full curing time before you shower. After that, gentle cleaning and good ventilation keep it in good shape.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks or gets worse.

How it works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. The repair is colour matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
  5. Once cured, usually by the next day, you can use the shower.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

What affects the price in Cegidfa

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Cegidfa. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

For a price in Cegidfa, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Repair or replace in Cegidfa?

Trays sit under the screen and tiles, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. A repair keeps everything as it is. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic

Common problems we fix in Cegidfa

Trays crack mainly because they move: without a solid, level base underneath, every shower puts strain on it. Chips generally come from dropped bottles.

Clients normally contact us about:

  • Snagging damage in a new bathroom
  • Edge chips from dropped bottles
  • A damaged area around the waste
  • Scuffs and light scratches

Comparing quotes

  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What protection goes down before work starts

How to compare quotes

Cegidfa: your questions answered

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How do I book?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are there extra charges for Cegidfa?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we’re working that clears as it cures.
