Cracks often start at the waste, because that is where the tray is weakest and the fitting puts pressure on it.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Chips caused during fitting
  • A tray that flexes
  • A crack across the base
  • Scuffs and light scratches

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Choosing a repair company

Shower tray repair in Cradoc without replacing anything

You don’t always need a new tray. If it’s firmly supported, we can repair it where it is, which is far less work than a replacement. We regularly repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a damaged area around the waste and damage from a refit or building work.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that moves underfoot

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Acrylic
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Stick to gentle cleaners

Rinse the tray after use, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water cannot get underneath.

Every shower forces a little water into a crack, and over months that can rot the floor. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

How we price shower tray repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Cradoc. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the entire shower tray
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Most clients in Cradoc get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Questions from Cradoc

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed quote and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire shower tray and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

What does shower tray repair cost?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your LD3 postcode.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send photos.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. The repair is colour matched, or the entire tray gets a new finish.
  5. Once cured, generally by the following day, you can use the shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
