How we handle shower tray repair in Dean Row

We repair a lot of shower trays. Chipped edges, cracks and worn finishes are all things we fix in place. Our technicians work on enamelled steel, acrylic and cast iron, and common reasons people contact us are cracks running from the waste and a tray that creaks or moves underfoot.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tray generally means removing the screen and tiling, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair or resurface keeps all of that in place. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Work done at your home or business
  • One visit for most repairs

How it works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
  4. The repair is colour-matched, or the entire tray gets a new finish.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can typically be used the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire shower tray, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Dean Row: your questions answered

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack isn’t letting water through. Look for damp or stains below.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Frequently. A tray that moves needs its support sorting before the repair.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What information do you need?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we’ll take it from there.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Prices and what affects them

  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

For a price in Dean Row, photos are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Do you need shower tray repair in Dean Row?

A tired-looking tray is often the result of years of cleaning: limescale, harsh chemicals and abrasive pads wear the finish away.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A tray that flexes
  • Scratches in the surface
  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it
  • Chips caused during fitting

What to look for in a quote

  • What prep work is covered
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How long it needs to cure

Choosing a repair company

Repairs by material

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are rigid and slim. They need a flat, solid base, and we match repairs to the surface finish.

Acrylic

Acrylic trays are lighter and slightly flexible, so good support matters. We repair cracks and scratches.
