Bath re-enamelling near Dean Row

Bath re-enamelling in Dean Row, done in place

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We are frequently asked to fix an outdated colour you’d like to change and a coating lifting around the plughole, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will come back.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Repairing versus replacing in Dean Row

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Why Dean Row clients choose us

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Is there a call-out fee?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the following day. We will confirm timings when we quote.

How do I book?

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Dean Row. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode

Email us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your SK9 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Dean Row?

Frequently the bath has just had decades of use. The body of the bath is normally perfectly sound.

Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What your quote should include

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who turns up on the day
  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

Our hiring checklist

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Getting a price

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
