What we can’t put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • A tray that moves underfoot

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Stone resin

Shower tray repair at your home in East Stoke

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, or resurface the whole tray if it’s worn. The tray stays in place, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. We work on stone resin, enamelled steel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are a tray that looks tired however much you clean it and scuffs and light scratches.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the tray is solid and the crack hasn’t let water spread, repair is normally best. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What your shower tray is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Avoid strong descalers and bleach
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated

Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, so they can’t be knocked over.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.

What we are called out for in East Stoke

Most cracked trays are trays that flex: if a tray wasn’t bedded on a solid, even base, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Dropped bottles cause most chips.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • A crack across the base
  • Scratches in the surface

Questions to ask before booking

  • Who turns up on the day
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether they match the colour on site

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned and opened up.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished.
  5. It’s left to cure, normally until the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

FAQs for East Stoke

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Look for damp or stains below.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in East Stoke use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
