Shower tray repair in Eryrys

Shower tray repair in Eryrys without replacing anything

We repair plenty of shower trays. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces are all things we fix in place. We work on cast iron, ceramic and enamelled steel, and people most frequently call us about staining and dullness across the tray and movement when you stand on it.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Don’t ignore a tray that flexes
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Store bottles off the tray

Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.

A small crack lets in a little water every time you shower, and over months that can rot the floor. An early repair is far cheaper than floor repairs.

When to call us in Eryrys

Rigid trays do not bend, they crack if the floor beneath them isn’t flat and fully supported. Timber floors that move can cause it too.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Chips caused during fitting
  • A crack across the base
  • Movement when you stand on it
  • Scuffs and light scratches

10 questions to ask before you book

Should you replace it?

A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it is not: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. A repair is one visit. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Eryrys. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned and opened up.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • A tray that moves underfoot

Surfaces we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Ceramic
  • Enamelled steel

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Eryrys questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you resurface a whole tray?

Yes. The entire tray can be resurfaced without removing it.

Can I keep using a cracked tray?

Not until you know the crack is not letting water through. Look for damp or stains below.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do you work in Eryrys?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Eryrys and the rest of Flintshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Eryrys. The price reflects:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • Whether we combine several jobs

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Quotes from your pictures

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.
