Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One picture of the whole shower tray
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Shower tray repair in Fenny Bentley, done in place

You don’t always need a new tray. If it’s solid underneath, it can usually be repaired in place, which is far less work than a replacement. Common call-outs are for chipped corners or rims and scratches from cleaning or grit, on stone resin, enamelled steel and acrylic.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Why repair rather than replace?

The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. Repairing it takes one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How the visit works

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the tray for movement first.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. We reinforce any crack and fill the damage.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Related advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that moves underfoot

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Fenny Bentley

  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach

Keep heavy bottles off the tray floor, to avoid chips.

Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can cause damage underneath.
