Common questions in Firle

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK. Prices don’t change with location.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How long before I can shower?

We will give you the curing time on the day.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Shower tray repair in Firle, done in place

We check the tray before repairing it: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, or the crack will come back. We’ll tell you if that’s the case. Common call-outs are for damage around the waste and movement when you stand on it, in cast iron, ceramic and acrylic.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Firle and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Signs you need shower tray repair in Firle

Trays fitted on timber floors can crack if the floor moves, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks usually point to an uneven base.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A cracked shower tray
  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • Staining and dullness across the tray
  • Movement when you stand on it

What affects the price in Firle

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many areas need work

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job without visiting.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in East Sussex and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Repair or replace: which is better?

The tray is generally the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why us?

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Work done at your home or business
  • We leave the room as we found it

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • Leaking waste fittings
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron
  • Ceramic
  • Stone resin

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Report any creaking or movement early
  • Use the extractor fan

Rinse the tray down after showering, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, where it causes damage you cannot see.
