Shower tray repair for Fort William homes

About our shower tray repair in Fort William

Every crack has a cause, and we find it first. If the tray moves, the support is fixed or flagged before we repair it, so the repair lasts. We regularly repair enamelled steel, ceramic and stone resin, and people most frequently call us about edge chips from dropped bottles and a tray that flexes.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tray normally involves removing the screen and tiling, preparing a new base and re-tiling. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Colour-matched on site
  • No need to remove anything
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It typically takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We make sure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. Chips and cracks are filled, reinforced and sanded level.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. Once cured, typically by the following day, you can use the shower.

How to prepare

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

FAQs for Fort William

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

When can I use the shower again?

Usually the following day. We’ll confirm before we leave.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, and that includes Fort William. Prices do not change with location.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Store bottles off the tray
  • Use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
  • Get a moving tray checked

Keep scourers and harsh chemicals off the tray. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.

Don’t keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, where it causes damage you can’t see.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are popular because they’re rigid and low-profile. A flat, solid base is essential, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

How we price shower tray repair

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The material
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. Try to include:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
