Common questions in Furze Platt
Can tenants book a repair?
We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Can you make an old tray look new?
Yes. The entire tray can be resurfaced.
What happens after I send photos?
We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.
Can pets and children be at home?
On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.
Can a cracked shower tray be repaired?
Often. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.
Shower tray repair in Furze Platt without replacing anything
In most cases, a damaged tray can be repaired where it is, from chipped edges to cracks across the floor of the tray. The colour and finish are matched so the repair blends in. We work on cast iron, enamelled steel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are movement when you stand on it and scratches in the surface.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
Keeping it looking good
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Stick to gentle cleaners
- Don’t ignore a tray that flexes
- Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
- Avoid strong descalers and bleach
Rinse the tray after use, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water can’t get underneath.
Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water can get through to the floor and walls, and the damage below isn’t visible.
Do you need shower tray repair in Furze Platt?
Trays fitted on timber floors can crack if the floor moves, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks typically point to an uneven base.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:
- A tray that flexes
- Chips or cracks by the plughole
- Damage from a refit or building work
- Scratches from cleaning or grit
What to look for in a quote
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- What preparation is included
- How the room is protected while they work
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
- We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
- We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
- The repair is colour-matched, or the whole tray gets a new finish.
- We leave it to cure; the shower is normally usable the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Open a window if you can
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
Ask for a price
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
Advice
When a repair isn’t the answer
In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
- A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
- Multiple cracks across the tray
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we work on
- Stone resin
- Ceramic
- Acrylic
- Cast iron
- Enamelled steel
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before you book. We look at:
- Doing more than one item at once
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- What the surface is made of
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.
Send pictures for a quote
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Natural light rather than flash
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire shower tray, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Repair or replace in Furze Platt?
A new shower tray generally means taking out the enclosure and tiles, preparing a new base and re-tiling. A repair or resurface leaves all of that alone. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
