Shower tray repair in Gyffin without replacing anything
The first thing we do is check the tray: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, or the crack will come back. We will explain what we find. Our technicians work on stone resin, ceramic and cast iron, and common reasons people contact us are a crack across the base and a tray that creaks or moves underfoot.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

What we are called out for in Gyffin
Cracks often start at the waste, because that’s where the tray is weakest and the fitting puts pressure on it.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- Damage around the waste
- A dull, stained or worn surface

- Scratches in the surface

What your shower tray is made of matters
Stone resin
Stone resin trays are rigid and slim. A flat, solid base is essential, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.
Enamelled steel
Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
Gyffin questions
Is there any odour?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Generally, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.
Does someone need to be in?
Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you’ll get one combined price.
Can I keep using a cracked tray?
It’s best to stop using it until it’s checked, in case water is getting through.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.
Do you do work for letting agents?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
How the visit works
The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- First, we check whether the tray moves.
- We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
- Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
- We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
- It’s left to cure, typically until the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
Ask for a price
Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.
Advice
What shower tray repair costs
Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- Unusual colours or finishes
- How much damage there is
- Access to the area
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
Getting a price from pictures
When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- Where you are, by postcode
- Natural light rather than flash
- Any details about the material
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the shower tray, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.
Repair or replace in Gyffin?
When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Why us?
- One visit for most repairs
- We leave the room as we found it
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Same prices wherever you are

Looking after it afterwards
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Get a moving tray checked
- Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
- Replace failing sealant promptly
- Do not stand heavy bottles on the tray
Rinse the tray after use, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep the sealant in good condition so water cannot get underneath.
Act on split sealant early. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.
When a repair is not the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Damage below the tray that needs a builder
- Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
- Multiple cracks across the tray
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
