Shower tray repair for Hilton homes

What your shower tray is made of matters

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

How we handle shower tray repair in Hilton

We check the tray before repairing it: if it flexes underfoot, the cause needs sorting before any repair, otherwise any crack returns. We will explain what we find. Whether it’s chips caused during fitting and cracks running from the waste, we can help.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Work for landlords and builders

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Common problems we fix in Hilton

On timber floors, movement can crack a tray, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks generally point to an uneven base.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Damage from a refit or building work
  • Chips or cracks by the plughole
  • A dull, stained or worn surface
  • A tray that flexes

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • How to look after the finish
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

10 questions to ask before you book

Common questions in Hilton

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it OK to use a cracked tray?

Only if you’re sure it isn’t leaking. Look for damp or stains below.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire shower tray and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

How do I get a price for shower tray repair in Hilton?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Repair or replace: which is better?

The tray is generally the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Check the seal every few months
  • Don’t stand heavy bottles on the tray
  • Keep the bathroom well ventilated
  • Report any creaking or movement early

Rinse the tray after use, clean with mild cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water can’t get underneath.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can damage the floor below.

How it works

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
