About our shower tray repair in London Apprentice

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chipped edges, cracks and worn finishes are all things we fix in place. Common call-outs are for cracks running from the waste and snagging damage in a new bathroom, across stone resin, ceramic and acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

How it works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. The tray is cleaned, keyed and repaired.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When to call us in London Apprentice

On timber floors, movement can crack a tray, particularly if it wasn’t fully bedded. On solid floors, cracks generally point to an uneven base.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Scratches from cleaning or grit
  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Chips caused during fitting
  • A tray that flexes

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who will actually do the work

Repairs by material

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

London Apprentice: your questions answered

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How much does shower tray repair cost in London Apprentice?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Do you come to London Apprentice?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to London Apprentice. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in London Apprentice as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Keeping it looking good

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
  • Check the seal every few months
  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Get a moving tray checked

Keep an eye on the sealant, and reseal when it starts to fail.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks.

Repairing versus replacing in London Apprentice

A new shower tray often means a new enclosure fitting, new tiling and new sealant. Repairing it avoids all of that, at a fraction of the cost. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
