Trusted shower tray repair in Prestonfield

Shower tray repair at your home in Prestonfield

The first thing we do is check the tray: a tray that moves needs its support sorted first, or the crack will come back. We will tell you if that is the case. We’re frequently asked to fix a tray that creaks or moves underfoot and a cracked shower tray, on ceramic, acrylic and cast iron.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Our shower tray repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

Different materials, different repairs

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so it’s worth repairing early.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the floor and the enclosure.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. The surface is refinished to match.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Open a window if you can

Ask for a price

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Movement caused by a poor base, until the support is fixed
  • Multiple cracks across the tray
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic

Aftercare tips

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Do not use strong acids or bleach
  • Rinse the tray after each shower
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Check the seal every few months

Wait the full curing time before you shower. After that, mild cleaners and good ventilation are all it needs.

Failed sealant around a tray should be replaced quickly. It lets water behind the tray and can cause damage underneath.

Landlord and trade work in Prestonfield

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
