Shower tray repair in Ryeford

Ryeford: your questions answered

Do you cover the entire of Gloucestershire?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the price change on the day?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How we handle shower tray repair in Ryeford

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chipped edges, cracks and worn finishes can all be put right without removing the tray. Common call-outs are for movement when you stand on it and chips caused during fitting, across stone resin, acrylic and ceramic.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It normally takes a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We ensure the tray doesn’t flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. The damaged area, or the entire tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can generally be used the day after.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Stone resin

Stone resin is a dense, rigid material with a smooth gel coat. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

What we are called out for in Ryeford

Most chips come from things dropped in the shower, normally along the edges or by the waste.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • Chips on the edges
  • Chips caused during fitting
  • Scratches from cleaning or grit

What we cannot put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Leaking waste fittings
  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Cast iron
  • Enamelled steel

How we price shower tray repair

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash

Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your GL10 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should you replace it?

When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If the floor is damaged or the tray is badly cracked, replacement may make more sense. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Ryeford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
