How we handle shower tray repair in Shottesbrooke

If the entire tray looks tired, we can resurface it, for a clean, uniform finish without removing the screen or tiles. We work on acrylic, enamelled steel and ceramic, and the jobs we see most are a cracked shower tray and a tray that creaks or moves underfoot.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Shottesbrooke and across Windsor and Maidenhead.

Different materials, different repairs

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. They chip and crack from impact, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Enamelled steel

Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.

Questions from Shottesbrooke

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Frequently. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.

Do you cover the entire of Windsor and Maidenhead?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Shottesbrooke. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can a stained tray be refinished?

Yes. The whole tray can be resurfaced without removing it.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it is not: removing the screen, breaking out tiles, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair is one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

What we do, step by step

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We make sure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the whole tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the whole tray.
  5. We leave it to cure; the shower is usually usable the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How we price shower tray repair

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Any details about the material
  • A photo taken from further back

To get a price, send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
  • A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
  • Leaking waste fittings

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
