Shower tray repair in Stubbles, done in place

We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, or resurface the entire tray if it’s worn. The tray stays in place, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. Common call-outs are for a damaged area around the waste and a cracked shower tray, on cast iron, enamelled steel and acrylic.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

When to call us in Stubbles

Most cracked trays are trays that flex: if a tray wasn’t bedded on a solid, even base, it flexes each time someone stands on it. Chips usually come from dropped bottles.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Scuffs and light scratches
  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Cracks running from the waste
  • A tray that looks tired however much you clean it

Questions to ask before booking

  • How soon you can use it again
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What preparation is included
  • What happens if they find more damage

How to compare quotes

Should you replace it?

The tray is usually the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so taking one out disturbs a lot. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Prices start from £95. A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour-matched on site

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. They crack if the base is not fully supported, and chips are filled and matched to the surface.

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. They chip and crack from impact, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Stubbles. What changes the price is:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A wider photo showing the entire shower tray
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can price the job.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours for a repair, longer for a full resurface, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We ensure the tray does not flex and look for the cause of any crack.
  2. We clean and prepare the damaged area or the entire tray.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
  5. Once cured, typically by the day after, you can use the shower.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Stubbles: your questions answered

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Can you fix a cracked tray?

Frequently. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you resurface a whole tray?

Yes. Resurfacing gives a worn tray an even, clean finish.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of Oxfordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.

When a repair isn’t the answer

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • A tray broken in more than one place
  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Damage below the tray that needs a builder
