About our shower tray repair in The Mint
We repair cracks, chips and scratches in stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. The tray stays in place, so the screen and tiling stay as they are. If you are dealing with staining and dullness across the tray and chipped corners or rims, we can help, whatever the material.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

For landlords and businesses
Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
If you manage property in The Mint, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll price them together.
Should you replace it?
The tray itself may not cost much, but the work around it does: removing the screen, breaking out tiles, relaying the base and re-tiling. A repair is one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
What happens on the day
We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.
- First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
- The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
- We fill and reinforce chips and cracks, then sand them flush.
- We match the colour, or refinish the full tray.
- We leave it to cure; the shower is normally usable the day after.
How to prepare
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Signs you need shower tray repair in The Mint
On timber floors, movement can crack a tray, especially if the tray wasn’t bedded properly. On solid floors, cracks typically point to an uneven base.
Look out for any of the following:
- Scratches in the surface
- A tray that flexes
- Staining and dullness across the tray
- Cracks running from the waste
Questions to ask before you book

What shower tray repair costs
Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Unusual colours or finishes
A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
Getting a price from photos
Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Where you are, by postcode
The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Get a moving tray checked
- Rinse away soap after showering
- Don’t use strong acids or bleach
- Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
Check the silicone around the tray every few months, and replace it when it splits or goes black.
If the tray creaks or moves, get it checked, before it cracks or gets worse.
When we’d advise against a repair
It helps to know what we can’t do too:
- Leaks from the waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- A tray that moves underfoot
- Rotten or damaged flooring underneath
Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
