How we handle shower tray repair in Tilts
Stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays can all be repaired, or resurface the entire tray if it’s worn. The tray stays in place, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. Typical jobs include a tray that creaks or moves underfoot and chips caused during fitting, across acrylic, ceramic and enamelled steel.
You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Should you replace it?
A new shower tray frequently means a new enclosure fitting, new tiling and new sealant. A repair leaves all of that untouched, at a fraction of the cost. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why book with us

Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
Tilts questions
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
Can you replace the silicone at the same time?
Yes, if you’d like us to. It’s a good time to replace old sealant.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.
Can you fix a cracked tray?
Normally, as long as it does not flex. The crack is reinforced, filled and refinished.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.
How much does shower tray repair cost in Tilts?
Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your DN5 postcode.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
What happens on the day
We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we will keep you posted as we go.
- First, we check whether the tray moves.
- We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
- Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
- We shape the repair, match the colour and finish it.
- It’s left to cure, typically until the day after.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
Get a quote
A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the shower tray, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

When a repair is not the answer
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Plumbing leaks under the tray
- Trays cracked in several places
- Damage below the tray that needs a builder
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Materials we work on in Tilts
- Enamelled steel
- Stone resin
- Acrylic
- Cast iron
- Ceramic
Repairs by material
Enamelled steel
Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Exposed metal can rust, so early repairs help.
Ceramic
Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.
Looking after it afterwards
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Keep the bathroom well ventilated
- Store bottles off the tray
- Rinse the tray after each shower
- Avoid strong descalers and bleach
Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid do the job.
Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below is not visible.
