Common problems we fix in West Suffolk
A tired-looking tray is often the result of years of cleaning: abrasive pads, strong chemicals and limescale wear the finish away.
These are the problems we’re asked about most:

- Movement when you stand on it

How to care for the repair
Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:
- Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Report any creaking or movement early
- Keep harsh chemicals off the tray
- Use the extractor fan
Store heavy bottles on a shelf, not on the tray, to avoid chips.
Act on split sealant early. Water gets behind and under the tray and can damage the floor below.
Work for landlords and builders
We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in West Suffolk use us as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Stone resin
Stone resin trays are heavy and rigid with a gel-coat finish. Poor support underneath leads to cracks, and chips can be filled and matched.

Should you replace it?
When the tray is firm and dry underneath, repair is the obvious choice. If water has damaged the floor, or the tray is cracked in several places, a new tray may be better. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

How the visit works
Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we leave the room as we found it.
- First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
- The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
- We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
- We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
- The tray is left to cure and can normally be used the next day.
How to prepare
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Keep a parking space free if you can
- Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice
FAQs for West Suffolk
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
How long does it take to cure?
We will give you the curing time on the day, normally the following day.
Will you leave a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.
Is a cracked tray repairable?
In most cases. If the tray moves, the support needs fixing first.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
Can a stained tray be refinished?
Yes, it’s a common job. A full resurface makes a tired tray look fresh.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
When a repair isn’t the answer
A repair is not right for every job, for example:
- Multiple cracks across the tray
- A tray that flexes because it was never properly supported
- Damage below the tray that needs a builder
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
