Sink repair in Cadder

Sink repair in Cadder, done in place

If the entire basin is crazed or worn, it can be resurfaced in place, giving it an even new finish. We work on ceramic & vitreous china basins, vanity unit basins and antique & period basins, and common reasons people contact us are chips from dropped toiletries and a period basin that needs restoring.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We check the basin is secure and not leaking.
  2. The area is degreased and keyed.
  3. Filler is built up and sanded flush.
  4. We match the colour and the gloss.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Related advice

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • A basin that moves on its brackets
  • Plumbing leaks
  • Widespread crazing

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Belfast and butler sinks
  • Enamelled basins
  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Antique & period basins

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Do you need sink repair in Cadder?

Bathroom basins get knocked all the time: bottles, hair straighteners and razors catch the front edge and rim. Cracks often start around the taps and waste.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Damage from dropped bottles or hair tools
  • A chipped vanity basin
  • An antique basin with chips
  • Cracks starting at the waste

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How your room will be protected
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

How to compare quotes

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Natural light rather than flash

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your G20 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Common questions in Cadder

Can you repair a chipped basin?

Yes, it’s one of our most common jobs. The repair is shaped and polished to blend in.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Cadder. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you disconnect the taps?

No. We repair it where it is, with the taps left connected.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. They repair well, and the colour is mixed to suit.

Period and antique

Older basins may have crazing, chips and makers’ marks. We repair them sympathetically and leave the character intact.

Repair or replace in Cadder?

A new basin often means a plumber, new taps or wastes and making good the tiling. A repair keeps the basin you have. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
