10 questions to ask before booking

Why repair rather than replace?

A new basin can mean a plumber, new taps or wastes and making good the tiling. A repair keeps the basin you have. Our sink repair starts from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

See our prices page.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a couple of hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the area around the basin.
  2. We clean and prepare the chip or crack.
  3. We fill it and shape it to the basin’s curve.
  4. The colour is matched by hand.
  5. The repair is polished to the basin’s gloss and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the basin, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

How we price sink repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Cross-at-Hand. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Cross-at-Hand. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any details about the material

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

What we can’t put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • Leaks from the fittings
  • A basin that moves on its brackets
  • Crazing all over, which suits resurfacing

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Cross-at-Hand

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Do not rest hot hair tools on the basin
  • Fittings shouldn’t be over-tightened
  • Use mild cleaners only
  • Have new chips repaired quickly

Treat the basin gently for the first few days, then stick to mild cleaners. Keep heavy bottles and hot tools away from the rim.

Chips near the waste or taps can let water in and stain. Early repair keeps it a small job.
