What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Crazing all over, which suits resurfacing
  • Through cracks that let water out
  • A basin coming away from the wall (that needs refixing)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Common questions in Mountain Ash

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so Mountain Ash is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

What happens next?

You will get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can a cracked sink be fixed?

Typically, if it is not leaking. If it leaks through, replacement is normally better.

What sink repair costs

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The material
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone pictures are fine. Ensure they show:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Where you are, by postcode

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A basin cracked through and leaking needs replacing. For chips, surface cracks and crazing, a repair is generally best. Our sink repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

The process

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It typically takes a couple of hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, we check the basin is firm and dry.
  2. We degrease and key the damage.
  3. Filler is built up and sanded flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

We price from photos so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Mountain Ash use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep heavy bottles off the rim
  • Don’t overtighten taps
  • Avoid strong bleach and descalers
  • Avoid abrasive pads

A quick wipe after use helps, and avoid strong bleach or descalers.

An unrepaired chip soon stains, so repairing them early keeps the job simple.
