Sink repair at your home in Oake

A chipped basin is one of the most noticeable bits of damage in a bathroom. The chip is filled, shaped and polished to blend with the surrounding glaze. We are frequently asked to fix cracks around the tap holes or waste and knocks from hair straighteners, across antique & period basins, Belfast and butler sinks and enamelled basins.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Should you replace it?

A basin is generally fixed into a unit or tiled around, so replacing one disturbs more than you’d expect. A repair avoids that. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

When a repair is not the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Plumbing leaks
  • A basin cracked through and leaking
  • Glaze crazing across the entire basin, where resurfacing is better

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks
  • Enamelled basins
  • Antique & period basins

Landlords, agents and businesses in Oake

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Somerset and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Oake use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Oake: your questions answered

Do you cover the whole of Somerset?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Oake. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Is a crack in a basin repairable?

Often. Photos let us say whether it’s repairable.

Can you repair an antique basin?

Yes. We repair around makers’ marks where we can. Mention it when you ask for a quote.

Can you repair a chipped basin?

Yes. The chip is filled, matched and polished.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. Allow a few hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the area around the basin.
  2. We clean and prepare the chip or crack.
  3. We fill it and shape it to the basin’s curve.
  4. The colour is matched by hand.
  5. We polish it to match the shine and leave it to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

Ask for a price

Send us a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your TA4 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any details about the material
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. They repair well, and the colour is mixed to suit.

Vitreous china

Ceramic basins have a fired, glassy surface. Repairs are polished to match that glaze.

What we’re called out for in Oake

Fittings tightened too hard strain the basin, and cracks can start at the tap holes.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A crazed, tired basin
  • Cracks starting at the waste
  • Chips from dropped toiletries
  • A chipped vanity basin

What to look for in a quote

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
