How we handle sink repair in Sale

A chipped basin is one of the most noticeable bits of damage in a bathroom. The chip is filled, shaped and polished so it blends into the glaze. Whether it’s cracks starting at the waste and chips from dropped toiletries, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Sale, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the basin is secure and not leaking.
  2. We degrease and key the damage.
  3. Filler is built up and sanded flush.
  4. We match the colour and the gloss.
  5. We tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Should you replace it?

A basin is usually fixed into a unit or tiled around, so replacing one disturbs more than you’d expect. A repair avoids that. Our sink repair starts from £95. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Sale. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any details about the material

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole basin, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Sale questions

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Do you cover the whole of Trafford?

The whole UK, including all of Trafford. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

What does sink repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your M33 postcode.

Is a chipped basin repairable?

Yes. We fill the chip, colour-match it and polish it to the basin’s gloss.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A loose basin, until it’s refixed
  • A basin cracked through and leaking
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Avoid abrasive pads
  • Store toiletries on a shelf
  • Avoid strong bleach and descalers
  • Get chips repaired early

Go gently for the first few days, then clean it with mild products. Keep heavy bottles and hot hair tools off the rim.

Chips collect dirt and stain over time, so repairing them early keeps the job simple.
