Need tile repair in Aston-by-Stone?

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Ceramic tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite

About our tile repair in Aston-by-Stone

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. We’re often asked to fix discontinued tiles you can’t replace and chips from dropped pans and tools, across porcelain tiles, marble and natural stone & granite.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair keeps the original tile. Our tile repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Read our prices page.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Getting a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

How to compare quotes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What tile repair costs

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Aston-by-Stone. What changes the price is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
