Tile repair near Bulk

Common questions in Bulk

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Frequently, yes, as long as it’s still firmly stuck down.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How we handle tile repair in Bulk

The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we will say so. If you’re dealing with discontinued tiles you can’t replace and chips from dropped pans and tools, we can help, on natural stone & granite, ceramic tiles and marble alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear the area around the damage

Getting a price

Related advice

What we can’t put right

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Marble
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Natural stone & granite

Should you replace it?

Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. Repairing it keeps the original tile. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

  • Drill holes from removed fittings
  • Damaged tile edges
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools
  • Discontinued tiles you can’t replace

What your quote should include

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if they find more damage

10 questions to ask before you book

What affects the price in Bulk

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Bulk. The price comes down to:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the entire tiled area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the tiled area, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
