Crich questions
Which areas do you work in?
All of Derbyshire, and the rest of the UK. There’s no extra charge for travel.
What do you need from me?
Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire tiled area and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
How quickly can you book me in?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
What about drill holes in tiles?
Yes. We fill drill holes from removed fittings.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
How we handle tile repair in Crich
A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We repair the tile in place, so you do not need to find a spare. If you’re dealing with discontinued tiles you can’t replace and damaged tile edges, we can typically put it right.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

When to call us in Crich
Dropped pans and tools chip floor tiles, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Cracks can also come from movement in the floor below.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Drill holes from removed fittings
- Damaged tile edges
- Chips from dropped pans and tools
- Discontinued tiles you cannot replace

Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.
Why Crich clients choose us
- One visit for most repairs
- No need to remove anything
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- A fixed quote before booking

What we do, step by step
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a few hours. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
- Next we fill the damage.
- The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
- The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
- Finally we seal it to match the tile.
How to prepare
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Keep a parking space free if you can

Can I fix it myself?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Work for landlords and builders
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.
Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

- The material
- Doing more than one item at once
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
