Bath repair in Crich

Bath repair in Crich without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. If you are dealing with chips under the taps and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can normally put it right.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, generally the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Repairing versus replacing in Crich

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • One visit for most repairs

Take a look at our full price list or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

How to look after the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust can start.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

Signs you need bath repair in Crich

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Look out for these signs:

  • Holes from dropped items
  • Snagging damage from a refit
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Damage beneath the taps

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Aftercare advice
  • When it can be used again

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Any details about the material

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.
