Tile repair near Footdee

When a repair isn’t the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Porcelain tiles
  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone & granite

Tile repair at your home in Footdee

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. Whether it’s chips from dropped pans and tools and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, we can generally put it right, on ceramic tiles, floor and wall tiles and porcelain tiles alike.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Before and after: damaged granite tiles repaired in place

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Footdee, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we will price them together.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Aberdeen and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Everything repaired in place
  • We leave the room as we found it

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a morning or an afternoon. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. First the tile is cleaned and loose pieces removed.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

Send us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your AB11 postcode, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Questions from Footdee

Do you cover Footdee?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Footdee for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

Signs you need tile repair in Footdee

Floor tiles chip when pans, tins and tools are dropped, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Discontinued tiles you cannot replace
  • Chips from dropped pans and tools
  • Damaged tile edges
  • Drill holes from removed fittings
