We repair the tile in place, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will tell you. We are often asked to fix cracked floor tiles and drill holes from removed fittings, across ceramic tiles, natural stone & granite and floor and wall tiles.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Hodnet and across Shropshire. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Should you replace it?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Hodnet clients choose us

  • Everything repaired in place

Hodnet: your questions answered

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hodnet

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

How to compare quotes

How we price tile repair

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Hodnet. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A picture taken from further back

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

The process

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Getting a price
