Tile repair near Hose

Repair or replace: which is better?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book.

Why Hose customers choose us

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • We leave the room as we found it

Tile repair in Hose, done in place

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We repair the tile in place, so you do not need to find a spare. Common call-outs are for damaged tile edges and drill holes from removed fittings, in floor and wall tiles, ceramic tiles and natural stone & granite.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What we cannot put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Marble
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Floor and wall tiles

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes a few hours. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Hose questions

Can you repair a cracked floor tile without replacing it?

Usually, as long as it’s still firmly stuck down.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.
