Trusted tile repair in Rhu

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Ceramic tiles
  • Marble
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Natural stone & granite

Tile repair in Rhu without replacing anything

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. The tile stays where it is, so you do not need to find a spare. Our technicians work on natural stone & granite, porcelain tiles and ceramic tiles, and common reasons people contact us are chips from dropped pans and tools and damaged tile edges.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before you book. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

10 questions to ask before booking

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow a morning or an afternoon, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and you’re under no obligation.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping out a damaged tile means breaking it out, tracking down a matching tile and possibly cracking its neighbours. A repair keeps the original tile. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Rhu

Rhu: your questions answered

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Rhu included. Travel is included in the price.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we’ll quote them together.

Can you repair a cracked floor tile without replacing it?

Generally, if it is not loose.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What tile repair costs

Prices start from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Rhu. What changes the price is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Send photos for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • One picture of the entire tiled area
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
