Need tile repair in Sciennes?

About our tile repair in Sciennes

The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. If you are dealing with chips from dropped pans and tools and cracked floor tiles, we can usually put it right, on marble, ceramic tiles and porcelain tiles alike.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Work for landlords and builders

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

10 questions to ask before booking

What tile repair costs

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Sciennes. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What kind of damage it is

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole tiled area
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Common questions in Sciennes

What does tile repair cost?

Prices start from £95. Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item and your postcode.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Are there extra charges for Sciennes?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you work in Sciennes?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Sciennes and the rest of Edinburgh. Send photos and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Sciennes is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Marble
  • Porcelain tiles

What we do, step by step

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. We shape the repair flush with the tile.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Ask for a price

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tile means breaking it out, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Our tile repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.
