The tile stays where it is, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. We work on porcelain tiles, floor and wall tiles and natural stone & granite, and people most often call us about drill holes from removed fittings and damaged tile edges.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Stanbridge and across Central Bedfordshire. Avoid dropping heavy items on repaired floor tiles, and clean with a pH-neutral cleaner.

Repairing versus replacing in Stanbridge

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Our tile repair starts from £95. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How we price tile repair

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Stanbridge. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

The process

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job normally takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the tile and remove loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are recreated by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
